Julie Vilanova’s job has shifted drastically during what would have been the busiest time for her career. Just weeks ago, Julie was a News Producer at CBS Sports in Manhattan working in the control room. Now, Julie is a CBS Sports News Producer overseeing the coronavirus coverage regarding sports remotely from her family home in Nyack, New York.
While this is an unfamiliar time, Julie thinks aspiring journalists and producers should keep working, “People are all home right now consuming all of the content, so everything is being seen right now.”
In the meantime, Julie is committed to keeping an optimistic attitude despite the cancellation of events like the NCAA basketball tournament. “…everything can be rescheduled, so just trying to have a positive outlook on things, because it’s not the end of the world, it’s just a little roadblock that we’ll all get through.”
